Project Statement.

My concept is a pair of jeans and turning them into something special. The purpose of this design is to create a denim garment that looks lux and high end and that would fit in to the retail space. I have achieved this by adding multiple waistbands and hems on each leg whilst also adding a bold, vibrant animal print on one whole leg with the pocket on the back of the opposite leg having the print too. The purpose of this design is to create a garment that showcases the exaggerated waistbands and hems as well as the bold print across half of the jeans. I also want the jeans to fit into a high-end retail space but also to be a little be unexpected for the type of design and style shown.

The inspiration behind my design comes from an animal print which is a mix between a zebra and a tiger pattern. I have also taken inspiration from baroque and Elizabethan time period where garments and products were exaggerated and over the top with their dresses etc. The hallmarks of luxury that I have incorporated into my design for the product I have made, is that it is a one-off product, and it will only be worn on certain accusations. The denim hallmarks that I have incorporated into my design are that it has multiple different hems on each leg and with three sets of waistbands.

For the design I used multiple different elements and principles. Contrast is one of the most obvious principles in my whole design due to the contrast between the bright bold white pattern against the deep blue denim. My product also showcases pattern, line, shape and repetition quite a bit through the animal pattern printed across the one leg of the jean and the way the pattern looks and how it is directed on the jeans. The target audience I am reaching for my product is young adults. I believe that this target market is appropriate for the jeans I am trying to sell due to the vibrant, bold pattern that is across part of the jeans and also due to the animal pattern being sophisticated but youthful at the same time. I also believe that the young adults would happily wear this and would have suitable events that would work well with the jeans.
